A Night of Myth and Mystery: "Apple of Discord" Transforms Peoples Hall

For seven unforgettable nights, the usually silent corridors of Peoples Hall pulsed with the ancient echoes of Mount Olympus. Our recent production, Apple of Discord, invited audiences to step through the heavy Georgian doors and into a world where Greek mythology collided with the haunting beauty of our historic townhouse.

Three floors of immersive legend

The production made full use of the building’s unique architecture, opening up all three floors of the Grade II* listed site—areas that are strictly off-limits to the public for most of the year.

As guests wandered through the sprawling 3-hour experience, the period features of the hall served as more than just a backdrop; they became part of the narrative. The grand staircase hosted the descent of goddesses, while the weathered floorboards of the upper chambers felt like the very dust of the ancient world.

The Perfect Backdrop for Innovation

We are thrilled to share that the production was a resounding success with critics and audiences alike. The ambitious staging and powerful performances captured the hearts of reviewers across the board.

The Stage reviewed the show 4 stars recognising it as "witty and insightful" and a "Wild and wonderfully designed immersive retelling of an explosive Greek myth from Chronic Insanity".

Preservation Through Performance

Events like Apple of Discord are vital to the Trust’s mission. By opening the doors of Peoples Hall for this limited seven-day run, we were able to:

  • Fundraise: All proceeds from the production go directly toward the ongoing structural restoration of the Hall.

  • Engage: We welcomed hundreds of new visitors who had never stepped foot inside a historic Georgian townhouse before.

  • Celebrate: We proved that heritage sites aren't just museums—they are living, breathing spaces for modern creativity.

Thank you

A massive thank you to the cast, crew, and the hundreds of guests who braved the mystery of the "Apple." Because of your support, the future of Peoples Hall looks brighter than ever.
